IPSA Group PLC (IPSA) Lists On AltX and Announces Key Appointment for South African Operations IPSA Group Plc ("IPSA"), an independent power company listed on AIM commenced trading on AltX today. At 11.30 AM, the share traded at R5.95 an increase of 6.25% on the opening price of R5.60 with almost 37,000 shares having traded in more than 14 trades. Speaking at a breakfast ceremony at the JSE to celebrate the listing Peter Earl , IPSA CEO, commented: " This is the beginning of an exciting chapter in our development in southern Africa . We have planned to grow and manage the business and projects in the region based on our core skills in gas-fired and clean coal technology. " IPSA is very pleased to announce that Doug Kuni has been appointed General Manager for IPSA's South African operations effective as of 1 st November 2006. He will head IPSA's representative office to be established in Johannesburg in the near future. Doug, has a distinguished all round career in the power industry which, aside from his varied roles in Eskom, has included power project assignments in the Far East . IPSA is currently considering emergency power, isolated generation or small combined heat and power projects serving large corporations or national governments in Botswana , Kenya , Madagascar , South Africa and Tanzania in addition to its existing combined heat and power projects in Swaziland and in the Prospecton Basin of Durban.
Doug Kuni has twenty years' broad based power industry experience with Eskom South Africa , where he held varied management positions including Generation Manager at Eskom Generation Group and as a Corporate Finance Consultant at Eskom's Finance Group, where he acted as convener of the Capital Investment Committee of Eskom's Management Board. Also a former Corporate Communications Manager, he was responsible for relations with external stakeholders including government officials during the first democratic elections in South Africa and has acted as an Eskom spokesperson with the press. More recently, Doug was seconded by Eskom to Trans Africa Projects where he reported to the MD on marketing and market development. In 2002 he was appointed to Business Development Manager of Eskom Enterprises where he reported to the CEO on various projects. His position, prior to appointment as General Manager, South Africa for IPSA was as Chief Corporate Development Officer of Shun Hing Power in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for establishing and leading functions capability at head office to identify acquisition targets, conclude acquisition and manage the integration of new companies. |
